Renting a podcast studio in India costs between ₹500 and ₹8,000 an hour on published rate cards, with ₹2,000 an hour the middle of the range. A bare room with microphones is at the bottom of that range. A set with two or three cameras and someone to run them is at the top. Most studios do not publish a price at all, which is why this guide exists: it sets out what the ones that do publish actually charge, city by city, so you can tell whether the quote you are given is fair.
How much does a podcast studio cost per hour in India?
Of the 441 studios listed on this site, 26 publish an hourly rate and 38 publish a price of some kind: per hour, per session, per day or as a package. The hourly rates run from ₹500 to ₹8,000. Half are at or below ₹2,000.
The chart shows the lowest published hourly rate in each city. It is the entry price, not the average: the cheapest hour is nearly always a room and microphones with no cameras.

Podcast studio rates by city
The same figures as a table, with how many studios stand behind each one. “Publish a rate” counts any published price. “Typical hourly” is the median, shown only where at least three studios publish an hourly rate.
| City | Studios listed | Publish a rate | Hourly from | Typical hourly |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mumbai | 84 | 6 | ₹1,000 | ₹3,000 |
| Delhi | 81 | 10 | ₹750 | ₹3,000 |
| Bengaluru | 65 | 6 | ₹900 | ₹1,300 |
| Jaipur | 39 | 2 | ₹2,000 | too few to say |
| Ahmedabad | 35 | 1 | ₹1,000 | too few to say |
| Chennai | 32 | 2 | ₹900 | too few to say |
| Kolkata | 30 | 3 | on request | too few to say |
| Pune | 30 | 2 | ₹1,200 | too few to say |
| Hyderabad | 25 | 5 | ₹500 | ₹900 |
| Surat | 20 | 1 | ₹3,000 | too few to say |
Read these with care. In most cities only a handful of studios publish anything, so one unusually cheap or expensive studio can move a city’s figure a long way.

What decides the price
The same two hours can cost ₹1,000 or ₹15,000. Almost all of the difference comes from four things.
1. Space only, or space with cameras
The cheapest bookings are the room, the microphones and nothing else: ₹500 an hour at a recording studio in Hyderabad, ₹1,200 for a two-hour slot in Kolkata, ₹3,000 for two hours at a podcast studio in Delhi.
Add cameras and the price roughly doubles. That Delhi studio publishes all three steps, which makes it a useful yardstick:
Two hours at one Delhi podcast studio, by setup
From the studio’s published rate card, October 2026. Camera prices are “starting from”.
- Space only₹3,000
- Two cameras₹6,000
- Three cameras₹8,000
Other studios land in the same place. A Pune studio prices a shoot at ₹4,000 with one camera, ₹5,000 with two and ₹6,000 with three. One in Bengaluru quotes ₹9,500 for two hours with two cameras, plus tax.

2. Whether anyone runs it for you
Self-service means you press record. An operated or crewed booking includes someone who frames the shots, watches the sound and hands you clean files. One Delhi studio publishes three hourly tiers that show the step: ₹1,500 with a single camera and basic lighting, ₹2,500 with three cameras and professional lighting, and ₹4,000 with a crew included. Another charges ₹7,999 for a podcast with one hour on set and a crew.
3. Editing
Recording and editing are usually priced separately, and editing is where budgets go wrong. Published examples: ₹4,999 plus GST for one long-format edit, four reels, a thumbnail and a teaser; basic editing from ₹700 a minute at another studio; and add-ons such as 24-hour rush editing at ₹2,000, audio mixing at ₹1,000 and colour grading at ₹1,500. If a quote says “without editing”, you will leave with raw files and nothing else.
4. How many hours you book at once
Longer blocks are cheaper per hour. The Delhi space-only rate works out at ₹1,500 an hour for two hours, ₹1,250 for four and ₹1,000 for eight. A Bengaluru studio charges ₹2,500 for a four-hour slot and ₹7,500 for a twelve-hour day. If you can record two or three episodes in one visit, a half day nearly always beats three separate two-hour bookings.
| Booking | What you get | Published examples, per session |
|---|---|---|
| Space only | The room, microphones, sometimes basic lights | ₹1,000 to ₹3,000 for two hours |
| Two cameras | The above, with two camera angles and lighting | ₹5,000 to ₹9,500 |
| Three cameras | A wide shot plus a camera on each speaker | ₹6,000 a shoot in Pune; ₹8,000 for two hours in Delhi |
| Crewed | An operator or director of photography runs the shoot | ₹4,000 an hour at one Delhi studio; ₹7,999 for a one-hour shoot at another |
Podcast studio packages and monthly plans
If you publish weekly, ask about a package. One Delhi studio sells four two-hour shoots with three cameras, lighting and an operator for ₹28,000. That is ₹7,000 a shoot against ₹8,000 booked singly. Eight shoots are ₹50,000, or ₹6,250 each.
Another sells memberships: ₹15,000 a month for twelve hours of studio time with one camera, or ₹25,000 for twelve hours with a three-camera setup. A package only saves money if you use all of it, so ask whether unused hours carry over to the next month.
Hidden costs: GST, overtime and minimum bookings
- GST. Several rate cards say “plus GST” or “GST extra”. At 18%, an ₹8,000 session is ₹9,440. Always ask whether a quote includes it.
- Overtime. Running over is charged by the hour. Published rates for an additional hour range from ₹500 to ₹1,500, and setting up and packing down count.
- Minimum booking. Many studios only take two hours or more. One Hyderabad post-production house lists its podcast studio at ₹7,500 an hour with a two-hour minimum, so the real floor is ₹15,000.
- Extras. A teleprompter (₹800 at one studio), additional microphones (from ₹500), a third camera, a make-up room.
- Your files. Ask how you receive them and how long the studio keeps a copy. Bring a drive.
What does one podcast episode cost to record?
Three budgets for a single episode and one for a month, built only from the published rates quoted in this guide.
| What you are making | What you book | Budget before GST |
|---|---|---|
| Audio only, two people | Two hours, room and microphones, you edit | ₹1,000 to ₹3,000 |
| Video podcast, you edit | Two hours with two cameras | ₹5,000 to ₹9,500 |
| Video podcast, edited, with reels | The above plus an editing package | ₹10,000 to ₹15,000 |
| Four episodes a month | A four-shoot package with three cameras and an operator | About ₹28,000, or ₹7,000 an episode |
How to get a quote you can compare
Most studios quote by the job, because jobs vary. That is not a warning sign. It does mean you should ask every studio the same five questions, or the quotes cannot be compared.

How we got these numbers
The opening figures, the chart, the table and the first line of each city section are calculated from the studio listings on this site every time this page refreshes, so they change as studios add or update their prices. Nothing in them is estimated. The worked examples are quoted from individual studios’ published rate cards as they stood in October 2026; they are given by city, without naming the studio, because prices change and the listing is the place to check them.
The obvious limit: most studios do not publish prices, and only 38 of 441 here do. Studios that publish may not be typical of those that do not.
Frequently asked questions
How much does a podcast studio cost per hour in India?
Published hourly rates run from ₹500 to ₹8,000, with a middle value of ₹2,000, across the 26 studios on this site that publish one. A room with microphones is at the low end; a multi-camera set with an operator is at the high end.
Which city has the cheapest podcast studios?
By lowest published hourly rate, Hyderabad at ₹500, followed by Delhi NCR at ₹750. Only a few studios in each city publish prices, so treat this as an entry price rather than a city average.
Is GST charged on podcast studio rental?
Many rate cards state that GST is extra. At 18%, an ₹8,000 session becomes ₹9,440. Ask whether a quote includes GST before you compare it with another.
Do podcast studios charge extra for video?
Yes, in most cases. On published rate cards, adding a two-camera setup roughly doubles the space-only price: at one Delhi studio two hours cost ₹3,000 for the space, ₹6,000 with two cameras and ₹8,000 with three.
How many hours should I book to record one episode?
Book two hours for an episode of up to an hour. Setting up, a test recording and copying your files take around 45 minutes of a first session, and overrunning is charged by the hour.
Is it cheaper to rent a podcast studio or set one up at home?
Renting has no upfront cost and includes a treated room, which is the hardest part to reproduce at home. If you publish occasionally, renting by the session is the lower-risk choice. If you record several times a week, price a monthly studio package against the cost of your own equipment.
